We were brought in to carry out restoration work, on this solid wide plank maple flooring in one of Chelsea’s luxury homes.
Our client wanted to achieve a bare wood look, that can with stand very high traffic. As usual our go to product for this was LOBA invisible (link here).
However, there is a problem with this, as maple is a very dense wood species it highlights any and all imperfections in the sanding and sealing process especially with a matte finish let alone with an invisible finish. That is why at last man sanding we follow NWFA guidelines to achieve the perfect finish and do not cut corners to make a quick buck.
The factory finish on this floor was aluminium oxide, when sanding this without the proper dust containment systems it can cause respiratory problems and skin irritation, that’s why we only use the best equipment, to deliver the best results possible keeping our self’s, our clients and even their pets safe.
We started our process using a ceramic 80grit to ‘shed’ the aluminium oxide off the floor, we then went down to a 60 grit at a sight angle, after this we was ready to bring the trio in.

Floor Restoration Solutions
We started with the trio on 60 grit and finished on 100, you can have problems sanding maple with to high of a grit.
After the floor was sanded to perfection and the floor was hoovered and tacked we brought out roller and applied our first coat of LOBA invisible, few ours later we applied the last coat of invisible, job done and we had a very happy client.
